U Hmat became the Ruby King. Chief ruby miner to King Thibaw, the last imperial ruler of Burma. Our family owned the mines, built lives around them, and passed the knowledge of rare beauty from hand to hand the way other families pass down prayers.

When Myanmar was nationalized, the mines were taken. But not everything.

Our family carried what mattered — their craft, their integrity, their eye for what is truly rare — across oceans, through loss, through rebuilding, all the way to New York's Diamond District.
